Since a couple of years, the Dutch Design Week has a strong presence of Food Design, and this year it’s no different. Agri meets Design presents The Embassy of Food, curated by Marije Vogelzang, and we participate as well!
Food Heroes asked us to make an installation to tell the public about chick culling in the egg industry, and a couple of solutions that have come up the last few years. For every female chick that is born, there is also a male chick. Of course, male chicks can’t lay eggs, and have less meat than their broiler counterparts, therefore, for the industry they are completely useless. At the moment there is only one solution for this: kill them. Off course, this is such a waste of life and opportunity. Together with Food Heroes we present a couple of other, more animal friendly, solutions.
